You can automatically apply custom tags to customers when they subscribe, as well as to their subscription orders. Order and customer tags help you segment your customers, send emails, filter and process orders, conduct analytics.
These tags sync to your Shopify admin, making it easy to filter orders, build customer segments, and trigger automations.

First subscription order — Applies a tag specifically to the initial order when a customer starts a new subscription. Useful for triggering first-order workflows or discounts. Enter your preferred tag label in the field below.

Dynamic Order Tags
Dynamic tags are generated automatically using subscription-specific variables, so each order gets a unique, data-driven tag.
Subscription ID — Appends the unique subscription number to the order tag. Variable: {{subscription_id}}. Default tag format: Subscription {{subscription_id}}.
Billing cycle number — Appends the billing cycle count to the order tag, so you can track which renewal cycle an order belongs to. Variable: {{billing_count}}. Default tag format: Billing cycle {{billing_count}}.
Payment frequency — Appends the subscription's payment interval to the order tag. Variable: {{billing_interval}}. Enter your preferred tag format in the field below.
Delivery frequency — Appends the subscription's delivery interval to the order tag. Variable: {{delivery_interval}}. Enter your preferred tag format in the field below.
Customer Tags
Customer tags are applied directly to Shopify customer profiles based on their subscription status. Tags are added and removed automatically as the customer's subscription state changes.
RecurrinGO active subscriber — Tags any customer with at least one active subscription. Default: Active subscriber.
Failed payment subscriber — Tags customers whose subscription payment has failed at least once. The tag is automatically removed once the subscription is successfully charged, paused, or cancelled.
Paused subscriber — Tags customers who have paused their subscription. The tag is automatically removed when no paused subscriptions remain on the account.
Cancelled subscriber — Tags customers who have cancelled at least one subscription. The tag is automatically removed when no cancelled subscriptions remain. Default: Cancelled subscriber.
Inactive subscriber — Tags customers who no longer have any active subscriptions. Both paused and cancelled subscriptions are considered inactive for the purposes of this tag.
Update Tags for Existing Customers
When you save changes to your tag settings, choose when those changes should be applied to customers who already exist in your store:
At the end of current billing cycle — Tag updates will take effect when the customer's current billing period ends.
Immediately — Tag updates are applied to all existing customers right away.
